David Letts
Associate Professor, Australian National University
David Letts is Director of the Centre for Military and Security Law, at the Australian National University College of Law, and he also holds an academic appointment at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) at the University of Wollongong. Prior to academic life, David served in the Royal Australian Navy retiring as a Commodore (1-star). David’s research interests centre upon the application of legal regimes to military operations, and he has published academic articles and book chapters on topics including the law of the sea, the law of naval warfare, international humanitarian law, military justice and the legal issues that arise on peacekeeping operations. He is an elected member of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, Sanremo, Italy.
